Emotions : Emotional health and spiritual maturity are inseparable.

November 3, 2019 Speaker: Jordan Dayoub Series: Lessons from Proverbs

Passage: Proverbs 14:10, Proverbs 12:25, Proverbs 13:12, Proverbs 3:5

God has made us as whole people, in his image. That image includes physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social dimensions. Neglect any aspect of who we are as men and women made in God’s image and it results in disastrous consequences.

it’s the emotional component is often the most underdeveloped in most people. One reason for that is because human emotions are like an iceberg—what you see on the surface is only a fraction of what lies beneath.

And because of this underdevelopment we may be giants in other areas of life, like our professional careers or intellectually or socially while at the same time emotionally stifled.  The bible zeroes in on the heart as the locus of human emotion.

The book of Proverbs shows an uncanny sensitivity to the working of the human heart and in particular to how one’s emotions affect one’s mental, spiritual, and even bodily existence.
