Unashamed of the Gospel
Passage: Romans 1:8–1:17
The good news is foolishness to the world
Big Idea: The gospel reveals God’s righteousness which is received by faith and through faith.
if someone told you, “this plane is going down and that thing on your back will be your only salvation!”—it doesn’t matter if the entire cabin laughs you to scorn—you’ll sit there and endure it all with an unshakable resolve.
That’s the gospel of Jesus, it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Why? Because it in it (the gospel) the righteousness of God, (meaning God’s saving and vindicating intervention for us), is revealed from faith to faith, and so those who are righteous are made righteous by faith, they live by faith.
It is faith from start to finish that we receive the righteousness of God—and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
